Head of Operations (m/f/d)

MBS is a German owner-managed company specializing in secure communications and space, with around 300 employees across the group. With our own ground stations in Germany and Europe as well as operational payloads in orbit, we have been developing and operating space-based solutions for government and industrial customers worldwide for almost 50 years. Our core services include satellite communications, satellite-based intelligence, and Managed Gateways.

As Head of Operations (m/f/d), you will assume overall responsibility for all technical areas at the Usingen site with approx. 40 employees.

• Conception, planning and implementation of the technical, technological and organizational orientation of the entire Operations division at the Usingen site as well as worldwide customer locations. This includes, among other things
• • Responsibility for the contractually compliant provision (quality, deadline, costs) and operation of highly available services (incl. infrastructures) for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Development of structures, tools and key figures to further optimize processes and capacities
• Management of the individual departments Network Operation Center, Broadcast Operation, Teleport Operation and Site Management
• Responsibility for personnel planning and development in the entire Operations division, including supporting the specialist departments in hiring, training and assessing employees
• Ensuring compliance with occupational safety and environmental protection regulations

• Completed training/studies with a technical focus, ideally in the fields of electrical engineering, communications engineering or telecommunications engineering
• Relevant professional experience in a fast-paced corporate and market environment, ideally in operations, critical communications infrastructure operations or multi-project management
• Experience in managing and leading a team of at least 30 people (directly and indirectly)
• Proven track record of optimizing processes and achieving efficiency gains
• High level of self-motivation and initiative as well as strong customer focus combined with an entrepreneurial mindset and approach
• Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills and sound technical understanding of communication systems
• Proactive, solution-oriented and appreciative approach at eye level
• Required language skills: English - C1, German - C2
