Who We Are

MBS operates satellites, ground stations, and secure communications networks to ensure that armed forces, government agencies, and businesses remain reliably connected anytime and anywhere.

As an owner-managed, mid-sized company specializing in satellite communications and space technology, we employ around 300 people across our locations in Germany, France, and Poland. With our own ground infrastructure, including the largest teleport in Germany, we have been developing and operating highly reliable satellite and data network communication solutions for government and industrial customers for over 45 years.

Working at MBS means making a direct contribution to Europe’s security infrastructure, with real responsibility from day one.

As a Senior Network Administrator (m/f/d), you are the backbone of our digital infrastructure. You manage data flows, connect systems, and ensure the stability of our network environment. You think in networks, not boundaries, and make sure our communications from Earth to space remain secure, fast, and reliable at all times. A moderate willingness to travel (approx. 10–15%, including visits to our headquarters in Usingen) completes your profile.

Your Mission
  • Strategic development, planning and design of network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, firewall, routing, switching)
  • Technical responsibility for operation, maintenance, configuration and documentation of network components
  • Analysis, evaluation and resolution of complex network and security incidents
  • Development and implementation of concepts for network automation, performance optimisation and reliability
  • Planning and implementation of new technologies (e.g. cloud networks, SDN, virtual networking)
  • Close cooperation with cyber security, system administration and specialist departments on infrastructure projects
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting with modern network management systems
  • Technical mentoring role for the network team and support in 2nd/3rd level support
  • Participation in on-call duty and planned maintenance windows outside regular working hours
What You'll Bring to the Mission
  • Completed training in the IT field (e.g. IT specialist for system integration) or completed technical degree
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in network administration of complex environments
  • In-depth knowledge of routing & switching (e.g. Cisco), VPN, VLAN, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN
  • Experience with firewalls and network security systems (e.g. SonicWall, Fortigate)
  • Knowledge of DWDM systems and virtualised network appliances is an advantage
  • Practical experience in the use of monitoring and management tools (e.g. CheckMK)
  • Experience in the documentation, standardisation and process automation of networks
  • Structured, solution-oriented and independent way of working
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills and enjoyment of sharing knowledge
  • Willingness to travel to our headquarters in Usingen (10-15 %)
  • Required language skills: German – C1, English – C1
